Maison Ikkoku

Maison Ikkoku, Rumiko Takahashi'nin Big Comic Spirits dergisinde yayınlanan aynı adlı mangasından uyarlamadır.
Üniversiteye girmeyi ümit eden ama henüz bir varlık gösteremeyen talihsiz Godai, ailesinden ayrı, Ikkoku apartmanında yaşamaktadır. Başarısızlığında tuhaf komşularının her gece Godai'nin odasına gelerek parti vermesinin katkısı da şüphesiz büyüktür.
Komşularından kısaca bahsetmek gerekirse... 1 numaralı odada kalan evli ve Kentaro adında bir çocuğu bulunan Hanae Ichinose. 6 numaralı odada kalan bir barda çalışarak hayatını sürdüren hafif meşrep Akemi Roppongi ve 4 numaralı odada ikamet eden hakkında ne iş yaptığı dahil hiçbir şey bilinmeyen Yotsuya: apartman sakinleri.
Elinden içki şişesi düşmeyen Hanae Ichinose'nin kocası ne mangada ne de animede nerdeyse hiç görünmüyor ama oğlu Kentaro'nun hikayede etkileri var: Özellikle Kyoko'ya düşkünlüğü ve Godai'ye yaptığı numaralarla ama bir şekilde kişilik ve kaderi açısından Godai'yi de anımsatıyor.
Yotsuya, Godai'nin yan komşusu ve aradaki duvara açtığı ufak delikten genelde Godai'nin odasına sızarak 6 numaradaki Akami'yi gözetlemekte. Aynı deliği Godai'nin odasında parti vermek için de kullanmakta...
Hikaye'nin baş bayan karakteri ise Kyoko Otonashi adında çok genç yaşta dul kalmış bir bayan. Kocası öldükten sonra kayınpederi, sahibi olduğu Ikkoku apartmanından kaçan yöneticinin yerine, yönetici olarak gelini Kyoko Otonashi'yi koyar. Kyoto, eski kocası ile aynı adı paylaşan Soichiro adındaki köpeği ile gelir. Herkes yaşlı birini beklerken karşılarında genç bir bayanı görünce apartman sakinleri oldukça şaşırırlar. Hatta Godai, ilk görüşte aşkın varlığına Kyoko'yu gördüğü an inanır.
Ancak zavallı Godai'nin peşini bir türlü şansızlıklar bırakmaz. Her seferinde yanlış anlaşılır. Üstelik Kyoko'nun vefat eden kocasına olan bağı, Godai'nin Kyoko'ya yaklaşmasına pek de müsade etmemektedir. Bunlara ek olarak, komşularının Godai'ye iyilik mi yoksa kötülük mü yaptığı belli değildir.
